We recently completed an extensive window renovation project that perfectly balanced historic restoration with modern upgrades. Key areas of focus included the ground floor lounge, first floor ensuite, bathroom and the Rosie room. The project successfully helped to revitalise the property’s original windows, ensuring that they not only retained their classic charm but also gained enhanced durability and efficiency.
In the Ground Floor Lounge, we restored the 8 over 8 sash windows and double casement. The project began with exterior preparation of the sashes and frames, followed by the manufacture and installation of new hardwood cills. Minor repairs were carried out using specialist resins, ensuring the integrity of the original structure. Loose putty was removed and replaced with new applications, and the entire window system was finished with a high-quality priming process. This was followed by the application of one undercoat and two topcoats, providing lasting protection and a polished finish.
The first floor en suite and bathroom saw through the repairs on the casement sashes and frames. We utilised a mix of timbers and specialist resins to address minor damage, and where necessary, manufactured nd fitted new hardwood cills. Loose putty was carefully removed and replaced, ensuring a tight seal. To complete the renovation, the windows were primed and painted.
For the first floor Rosie room, we undertook a detailed restoration of a 6 over 6 sash window. The sashes were removed to allow for the repair of minor areas of rot. We then restored new slim double glazing units to improve insulation while maintaining the window’s original character. The window depth was routed out to accommodate the slim double glazing, and new pulleys and sash cords were fitted to ensure a smooth operation. Finally, the sashes were re-swung , and new lead weights were added to achieve perfect balance and functionality.
Great job, lovely team to work with!
