HRG Services Window Restoration Project in Portland, Dorset
HRG Services recently completed a comprehensive window restoration project in Portland, Dorset. The work focused on investigating and repairing window damage throughout multiple areas of the property, addressing timber rot and structural issues to ensure the windows were both functional and durable.
Project Overview
Our initial investigations revealed extensive timber rot, which required custom timber orders for replacements. The tasks included replacing damaged sills, repairing the timber cheeks, and filling gaps around replaced sills with a mortar mix where the existing mortar had fallen out. Repainting was carried out meticulously, with two undercoats applied to the windows both internally and externally. In addition, damaged pulleys were replaced to restore smooth and seamless window operation.
Despite facing unforeseen challenges, such as significant structural decay and severe rot, the project was completed within the planned timeframe. As part of additional work requested by the customer, a quote was also provided for replacing the wooden weather step on the front door. These comprehensive repairs not only restored the functionality of the windows and doors but also improved the property’s appearance and structural integrity.
