On this Property we focused on refurbishing the sash and casement windows to ensure both functionality and historical accuracy. We enhanced window performance by addressing issues such as draughts and inefficient glazing, replacing old components with modern, energy-efficient solutions. Our work involved removing outdated sashes and glass, installing new slim double-glazing units, and adding draught-proofing systems. Consequently, this process not only improved the appearance of each window but also increased the overall comfort and energy efficiency of the property.
The restoration process began with removing existing staff and parting beads and carefully taking out the sashes. Next, we disposed of the old glass, routed a new depth for the slim double-glazing units, and cleaned, primed, and prepared the rebate with low module silicone. Then, we installed the new double-glazed units and applied additional silicone to seal them securely. Following this, we fitted new hardwood putty-style timber beading, timber overlay glazing bars, and primed any bare timbers. Afterward, we replaced old pulleys, added new draught excluders, and installed a new rope and pulley system. Moreover, we made necessary adjustments to the weights or balance system. Finally, we finished with installing new parting and staff beads with integrated draught excluders, adjusted the sashes for smooth operation, and fitted new sash locks and lifts. This comprehensive approach ensured enhanced aesthetics and functionality.
Overall the Client was happy with the restoration.
Great job, lovely team to work with!
