Looking for a straightforward way to improve the condition of your timber windows without investing in full restoration or draught-proofing?
At HRG Services – The Timber Window Restoration Experts, we offer a Basic Timber Window Refurbishment Package designed for clients who are happy with the function of their sash or casement windows but want to address visible wear, decay, and surface damage.
Serving Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset, and Wiltshire, we tailor each refurbishment to the individual window — restoring soundness and integrity without removing or replacing the frames. This makes the package ideal for those looking to extend the life of their original windows while preserving the character of their property.

Our process includes:
• Careful preparation of window frames and sashes
• Re-puttying where needed
• Light filling of imperfections
• Removal of decayed timber
• Application of specialist resins to restore strength
Please note: this package focuses on the structure and surface of the window. If you require repairs to how the windows open, close, or seal, our Draught Proofing Package covers all functional elements.
Once complete, your windows will be clean, solid, and ready for painting — either by our team through our Specialist Painting Package, or by your own decorator.

HRG Services – The Exterior Specialists offer a number of refurbishment packages catering for all types of properties and budgets.
Different projects require different packages and levels of restoration, which is why HRG Services offer a bespoke package that can be tailored to the clients’ needs and requirements.
Some projects will require the timber windows to be stripped back to bare timber before being repaired and fully painted, if that is the in depth detail you are looking for then our Bespoke package will be for you.
Many properties that we work on still have older glazing installed and replacing the glass with modern float glass will stick out like a sore thumb. In cases like this we can replace any broken glass with hand blown glass keeping the character of your property intact.
Please do not hesitate to contact us for a free no obligation survey or for further information.
HRG Services – The Exterior Specialists provides various sash and casement window options to suit our clients needs, throughout Dorset and the neighbouring counties of Hampshire, Somerset and Wiltshire.
Some projects require a more bespoke refurbishment and restoration package, if that’s the case then our bespoke restoration service will be the best option for you.
Our Bespoke Restoration Package is tailored to each individual window.
It is a labour intensive procedure, and because of the time involved, is more expensive than our other packages. However once completed your windows will be fully restored and brought back to their former glory.
In most cases it is not required, but if necessary we can strip back all existing paint coatings back to bare timber ready to fully establish all rotten areas.

Our stripping equipment uses the latest technology by removing old paint layers using infrared heat. By using this system old glass can be protected as the infrared will not heat the surface of the glass but simply pass through it. Also due to the low temperatures work on lead based paints can be done safely.
Should a project not require stripping back then our experienced team will prepare the surrounding surface to the highest of standards ready for our resin systems to be applied. Our aim is to remove all rotten timbers back to a sound surface, preserving as much of the original woodwork as possible.
In addition to removing rotten areas we can also remove old rotten cills and install new ones and replace profiles and sash pockets where needed using our resin as well as scarfing in new timber sections where needed.
The majority of our repair work is carried out on site however if required your windows will be removed and restored at our workshop. We advise our clients that restoration can be labour-intensive, particularly if the timber is in a state of disrepair and sometimes having newly-made items can be a more cost-effective option but we will discuss this with you on-site as to the best way to proceed with your project.
In many of our projects original glass is required to replace the old broken glass, this can be very expensive and difficult to source.
Hand blown cylinder glass sheet to replicate as closely as possible the original crown glass and cylinder glass used in the Georgian and Victorian eras from 1700 to 1860.
Thickness can vary within the same sheet with an average 3mm and sheet sizes vary. Slight waviness refracts light, and imperfections make this glass suitable to recreate the authenticity of period glass.
In addition to Heritage Glass, we can also install slim double glazing into most original sash or casement windows. It is slim and discreet and almost impossible to tell it is double glazed.
If you are looking for a restoration package that is second to none or require more information then please do not hesitate to contact us.
