FULL REFURBISHMENT PACKAGE

Heritage Approved – Long Lasting – Specialist Paints

Over the years timber windows that have been exposed to the elements and not been regularly maintained will deteriorate. Chipped or flaked paintwork and missing putty allow water to access the wood.  This can lead to decay, causing the material to collapse. Particularly vulnerable are the window sills, bottom rails lower sections of outer linings and pulley stiles.

Too often we have seen properties that have replaced the original timber windows for modern replacements. However at HRG Services we will always try and save your original windows rather than replacing them, keeping the historical character of your property.

HRG Services – The Exterior Specialists offer a full refurbishment and painting package that will carefully restore your windows and then redecorate them to the highest standard.

Our skilled team have years of experience restoring original timber windows on period properties throughout Dorset and the neighbouring counties, we pay special attention at the preparation stage to ensure that the best results are reached.

We use specialist paints to achieve the maximum durability and longevity of your windows.  We take great pride in this element of our work and advise our customers that this area of works can take a little longer to achieve the required standard that both, we and the client can be proud of.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for a free no obligation survey or for further information.

REFURBISHMENT

Our experienced team will start by removing the existing beads followed by the windows your sash windows from their frames in ready for preparation.  We will remove all existing window furniture such as pulleys, centre locks and sash lifts to be replaced by brand new furniture.

Our aim is to remove all rotten timbers back to a sound surface, preserving as much of the original woodwork as possible.

As well as removing rotten areas we can also include remove old rotten cills and install new ones and replace profiles and sash pockets where needed using our resin as well as scarfing in new timber sections where needed.

Our repair work is mainly carried out on the project site however if required your windows or doors will be removed and restored at our workshop.  We advise our clients that restoring can be labour-intensive, particularly if the timber is in a state of disrepair. Sometimes having newly-made items can be a more cost-effective option but we will discuss this with you on-site as to the best way to proceed with your project.

Once the refurbishment works have been completed, your windows will be ready for the draught proofing to be installed and for painting.

Draught Proofing

DRAUGHT PROOFING

It is estimated that the gaps around an average single sash window can add up to the equivalent of 30cm square. These gaps let in cold air and keep you reaching for the thermostat, making you feel cold and costing you money on your heating bills.

The draught proofing process includes replacing the old parting beads and staff beads with our brush pile versions, we will also install a seal along the back of the mid rail to help eliminate draughts further.

All the existing window furniture will be replaced, this includes pulleys, centre locks and sash lifts. There is a wide options of colours and finishes and we will go through the different options to help you find furniture that compliments your refurbished windows.

Our draught proofing will help bring your timber windows into the 21st century without harming the look and character of your property.
